Check This Out !

You never know what you'll find blog hopping.
Today I found a cute idea over at

It was such a clever idea I wanted to pass it along and share it with you.

Kyra, author of Racks and Mooby has written an excellent tutorial on how to make Marshmallow Flowers so  I'm not going to go into detail here other than show you her photo of the finished flowers. You'll just have to visit her blog to find out more.

Aren't these adorable !

I'm tucking this idea into my recipe box for the right occasion.
Check this out! is a new feature for WynnieBee-showcasing great finds, and clever ideas.

Giveaway Alert - One Mixed Bag

Bernie over at One Mixed Bag is having a Giveaway. WOO HOO.  Mr. Bernie wrote the post so that alone should be worth the visit to Bernie's blog. One lucky winner will receive a free pizza and a bamboo cutting board.  The contest ends May 15th so don't wait too long.  Good luck!

Been there - doing that

Drat there's no Meet Me on Monday today, just as I was getting into it LOL.  I'll be participating in MOM next week with Java and the rest of the MOM'ers. But maybe that's a good thing because there's been something I've been wanting to share with you. Maybe today is the right time to talk about it.   I know that this doesn't apply to many of you out there but for the one person for whom it might -  here goes.

This post is for parents who have children with addiction problems.  You see my church is doing a short seminar on addiction.  There is a book called Parents with Broken Hearts by William L. Coleman.  It was written in 2007 so - no the church is not trying to promote this book. It's just that it's one of the better books out of the few that have been written on this subject.

To see the seminar go to this link. In the search box type in classes and seminars. When your on the classes and seminars page click on any one of the locations - say Perrysburg.  Under that on the second line you see Parents With A Broken Heart-click on that- here you will be able to participate in an online seminar this Monday and next Monday.  The first part was last week and I have a feeling that it is the one you would really want to see - not sure if they are are going to replay it or not.  The church could have done a better job of being able to get to this link - to me this should be on the front page of the website but it's worth 'digging' for.

For those of you have dealt with this you know, help is hard to find.  It's crazy expensive, insurance covers nothing or very little of it's costs and it's a life long problem.  So when you find a sliver of help you latch onto it like it's the last life preserver from the Titanic because that's what addicton is. It's a cruel, heartless, disease that ruins lives, kills and maims it's victims and those who love the addict.

So check out this link - for those of you who have been there - doing that.  Last week was amazing - it echoed every thought, every word, every experience I have ever had in dealing with addicton.  Addiction has a pattern - it has symptoms.  Just like any other disease - you can map it out - these are the symptoms, this is the progression - this is the aftermath.

If you've read this far your probably someone who has experienced addiciton - please check this out - if anything it will affirm your pain and at the most give you some hope for the future.

Happy Mother's Day

I've never been a fan of commercial holidays.  According to Wikipedia, Mother's Day is celebrated in most countries but originated first in America and was created by Anna Jarvis in Grafton, West Virginia in 1908.  It became a national US holiday in 1914 and since then it ballooned into what it is today, leaving Anna Jarvis regretting her decision to ever having started it.

Thankfully for children, Mother's Day is just what it should be, a homemade card, a kiss, gifts made with paints, macaroni and glitter.  My kids are 30 and 27 and I still have many of their Mother Day creations. This is what I love about Mother's Day.

So even though Mother's Day has become just another way for businesses to bring in customers, I am grateful that Anna Jarvis set aside a day for Mom's to hear those three little words- I Love You but in a different way.  For me it's a chance to slow down, step back and be thankful that I am so blessed to have my two kids.

Here's hoping you all have a day filled with sweet innocence, hugs and kisses !

Happy Mother's Day ♥
